Wedding Tradition
At the reception We look forward to sharing with you an authentic New ORLEANS custom for weddings…
a second line!
The Second Line has a deep, rich history in New Orleans. When performed during wedding celebrations, it signifies the beginning of a new life for the bride and groom.
A Second Line has two parts. The band and newly married couple are the "first line" with the guests and anyone else who joins the celebration referred to as the “second line”. The band leads the bridal party and guests in a dance parade from the ceremony to the reception venue. In our case, it will be a short parade around the sculpture garden. Comfortable footwear is recommended!
